Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) was a 12th century German Mystic, Abbess, artist, writer, healer, liturgical composer, and early environmentalist. She made four tours through the Rhine region teaching about the web of the cosmos and as an early GAIA theorist she believed everything on the planet is interconnected and interdependent. She is known for her book of illuminations of her visions in a vita called Scivias. This triptych includes three panels each 70 x 50. As one unit it measures 150 x 70.
